Camanchaca appoints new US division president
Chilean seafood exporter Camanchaca has appointed a new president of its US sales and marketing office, Camanchaca Inc.
Cesar Lago, current vice president of sales at Camanchaca Inc., will assume the role after playing an integral role in the company’s success over the last 16 years, the company said in a release on Thursday.
He takes over for Bert Bachmann, who has served in the position since 2001. Bachmann will now become US strategic development director.
The shift comes amid a push to progressively diversify its offerings, an effort that came to the forefront under Bachmann’s leadership. Most recently, this meant supplementing its supply with arrangements with other producers.
For instance, the firm launched a new wild Argentine red shrimp, which is caught and packaged through a joint venture with Spain’s Krustagroup, at the Seafood Expo North America last month. Through that JV, the company launched three new products under its “Pier 33 Gourmet” label.
Bachmann said at the time the firm was excited to “enter the biggest seafood segment in the US” with its shrimp products.
Lago’s appointment to president becomes effective July 1.
